This is the exchange between Buffy and the First Slayer (with a little help from Tara) right at the end of the season 4 finale, Restless.
-I have no speech, no name. I am absolute, alone.
-I am not alone.
-The slayer does not walk in this world.
-I walk, I talk, I shop, I sneeze. I'm going to be a fireman when the flood roll back. There are trees in the desert since you moved out, and I don't sleep on a bed of bones. Now give me back my friends.
-No friends. You are alone.
Yes, I know it's abstract (isn't this entire episode?) but I think it's beautiful in a really poetic yet prose way. If that made any sense at all. It ran around in my head, over and over for at least a couple of months afterwards. I keep thinking it's trying to tell me something, but I can never quite identify what. Let me know if you have any ideas. - missiedith
